Dr Helena Wehling is a Research Fellow working in the Behavioural Science and Insights Unit at the UK Health Security Agency since January 2021. Helena has a Professional Doctorate in Health Psychology from London Metropolitan University and her research focusses on the application of Health and Social Psychology theory to public health issues.

Helena’s work in the HPRU focusses on the development and evaluation of psychosocial interventions, specifically designed to foster resilience and coping in crises to support in different populations, such as first aid responders, volunteers and carers. For example, one of her research projects involved contributing to the development and evaluation of a Psychological First Aid training.

Moreover, Helena is co-leading Theme 2 (Resilience) and Public Involvement lead within the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Health Protection Research Unit (HPRU) in Emergency Preparedness and Response and she co-chairs the Cross-HPRU Public Involvement Network.

Helena also currently works as a researcher on the NIHR HPRU in Behavioural Science and Evaluation.
